Hip

The most common types of hip surgery in Belgium are:

- Total hip replacement (THR)
- Hip resurfacing (also called Birmingham hip) (BHR)
- Hip revision

Length of stay in the hospital varies from 7 days for BHR to 10 days for THR surgery, including revalidation. We offer two options:

  1. The "joint recovery" physiotherapy programme organised in the hospital
  2. Revalidation in a private room in a nearby hotel (Hotel Serwir), with daily visits of a nurse and a physiotherapist

Pre-operative tests (X-rays, blood tests, etc., depending on the information supplied at enquiry or admission time) and examinations by the surgeon typically take place on the day of the surgery, or the day before.

X-rays, CT or MRI scans and/or photographs are always be very useful when assessing your case and determining the exact surgery required. Please send us, if possible, copies of scans on CD's or digital pictures of X-rays with you enquiry.

MRI scans can be organised separately or, in order to save on transportation and handling costs, or on the day before surgery. Please indicate your preference in the enquiry.

Please contact us to obtain a preliminary price estimate for the surgery of your choice.
