Medical services

Twin bedded rooms are the standard accomodation in Belgian hospitals. Single bedrooms are available as an option, at a surcharge.

The standard price estimate always includes:

- Surgeon, assistant, anaesthetist and specialist fees;
- Pre-operative examinations (e.g. medical imaging, laboratory, ...);
- (An estimate of) medication and own (e.g. telephone, drinks, etc.) costs during your stay in the hospital;
- Physiotherapy (one to one, or as part of a joint / rapid recovery programme) during your stay;
- (An estimate of) necessary implants, prostheses and medical materials;
- Full-service hospital stay (with English-speaking nurses and TV-channels).

In certain cases additional costs are charged, as a result of a longer stay in the hospital, or the need for additional physiotherapy to guarantee full recovery, or the need for specific implants or medical materials.

To give you an idea, additional days in the hospital, if needed to guarantee full recovery, would currently be charged at approximately 300 Euro per day (approximately £ 200) per day.

In most cases, additional costs will be identified during the extensive pre-operative examinations (including X-rays, MRI or CT scans, full blood and cardiological tests, etc.) and consultation, when the details of the procedure are discussed and agreed with the surgeon.
